S.T.A.R.S. Seniors Taking Action Ready to Serve

If you are 55 years old or more, STARS is a great group for you. We offer a variety of programs and events for senior adults. Fun quarterly events, service opportunities, and impromptu outings, make this group an excellent way to make new friends and do something that impacts others with the saving love of Jesus.

Bible Study

Nothing blesses your life like when you open your heart and honestly dive into the study of Holy Scripture. People are pleasantly surprised at how fun Bible study can be. You will be blessed by how God’s Word provides encouragement and practical guidance. You will be strengthen by the comments and prayers of others in the group. Bible study is typically from 10:30-11:15am each Sunday.

Brazilian Outreach

Another wonderful characteristic of our congregation is how we offer unique opportunities for individuals and families from Brazil to feel at home on the South Shore. The congregation has helped many Brazilians become confident English speakers and find an American church family that honors their Brazilian heritage. Pastor Paul lived as a missionary in Brazil for over five years and his wife, Rosangela, is Brazilian. She offers simultaneous translation for his weekly sermons in Portuguese. Those who desire this benefit use a discreet individual earpiece to hear the translation. Portuguese Bible studies, special worship services in Portuguese and other fellowship events help “matar saudade” for our Brazilian brothers and sisters.

Church Life

There are many other opportunities for adults to put their gifts to use in the life of the church. Everything from making meals for the homeless, assisting with Sunday worship, teaching Sunday School, serving on a leadership team, singing in the choir, helping with church events, caring for our church facility, participating on a mission trip, the list goes on and on.
